Before traveling to Vietnam, make sure your passport and visa requirements are in order. Entry requirements can vary depending on your nationality, passport type, length of stay, and purpose of travel.

  • Your passport should generally be valid for at least 6 months from your date of entry.

  • Make sure your passport has sufficient blank pages for immigration requirements.

  • Travelers should carry their passport throughout their trip and keep a copy of important travel documents separately.

  • Travelers who are not eligible for visa exemption generally need a Vietnamese visa before entering the country. Vietnam offers visa options including electronic visas (e-visas).

  • Vietnam has visa-exemption agreements with a number of countries, with permitted stays varying by nationality and passport type.

  • Citizens of 12 countriesโ€”including Japan, South Korea, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Russia, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, and Finlandโ€”currently receive a 45-day visa exemption, subject to Vietnam's entry conditions. This policy is effective from March 15, 2025 through March 14, 2028.

  • Philippine ordinary passport holders are currently listed as visa-exempt for stays of up to 21 days.
